Position Entry & Exit
Entry + Exit — combined dry fire drill
Setup
Position A with a target, 2–3 m of movement, position B with a second target.
This drill combines the two previous elements — position entry and position exit — into one continuous sequence. You train acceleration, braking, target acquisition and departure together. A natural next step once you've mastered both elements separately.
Step by step
Engage the target in position A.
Exit smoothly from position A (see: Position Exit).
Move to position B, braking at the right moment.
Arrive in position B ready to engage (see: Position Entry).
Engage the target in position B.
Coaching cues
Common mistakes
Entering B too fast at the cost of sight stability.
Slowing down too early before B.
No clear close-out on A before starting the move.
Dry-fire safety
Perform this drill only with a cleared, unloaded firearm, after checking the chamber, with ammunition removed from the room, aimed in a safe direction. See our full safety checklist on the dry fire training page.
