Two Target Transition — dry fire drill

Setup

Two small targets side by side, angular separation of 20°, 45°, or 90° depending on level.

Two Target Transition is one of the most important shooting transition drills in dynamic/practical shooting. The rule is simple: eyes lead, the gun follows. Too many shooters try to move the gun and eyes at the same time, resulting in overswing and corrections that cost time. Training this in dry fire lets you build the right sequence without the pressure of live shots.

Step by step

1

Finish your work on target A — confirm the sight picture.

2

Move your eyes to target B first, before the gun moves.

3

Let the gun follow your eyes, not the other way around.

4

Stop the gun exactly on the new target, without overswinging.

5

Optional: use a timer with a par time as a personal reference — not an official standard.
